Why we are intentional about our team gear

United Look

You will notice that one of the disciplines of the OKC Ambassadors baseball organization is that we will always look the same on the field. Whether it is for practice or a game, we strive to be unified in the way that we look. This includes that we all wear long baseball pants and not knickers. This includes that we do not have jewelry hanging out of our jersey. This includes not drawing individual attention to ourselves in any way. 

United Purpose

The purpose for this discipline is for our players to understand that everything we do is for God’s glory as opposed to our own selfish gain. It is easy in baseball to want to draw attention to yourself. Whether it is becoming emotional after striking out, pouting after making an error or showing up an opponent after a great play, the nature of man is to put himself at the center of the attention. This is especially true in today's culture of athletics. Young athletes want to wear gear that makes them stand out. It is more important for the world to see the name on the back of my jersey, than it is for them to see the logo on the front.

But as Ambassadors, we are but spokesman for The King. So, the message that our ministry is to proclaim is not that of individuality, but of unity. In doing this, we will set ourselves apart from the world. Therefore, we will strive to reinforce “SDG” in all that we do, including the way we wear our uniforms.

United Message

The entire purpose of our mission is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And we do this through the colors of our uniform. The GOLD represents the Holiness of God. The BLACK represents the sinfulness of man. The RED represents the perfect substitutionary atonement that Jesus Christ made for us. The WHITE represents the forgiveness of sins that we have in Christ when we repent and put our faith in Him. In order to proclaim this message, we must not draw attention to ourselves, but we must point the focus to Jesus. And one simple way that we do this as a ministry is to be unified in the way that we present ourselves to the world.
